Press Release

A delegation from Sub-Division Shakar–Chiktan, led by Mr. Yousuf Sha, General Secretary of the Kargil Ice & Snow Sports Club, paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Tahir Hussain, Director of Youth Services & Sports, UT Ladakh, on 19 December 2025 at the Secretariat, Kargil, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Council Complex.

The primary objective of the meeting was to discuss the redesign of the pavilion at the Indoor Ice Hockey Rink of Sub-Division Shakar–Chiktan.

During the interaction, the Director of Youth Services & Sports, in coordination with Mr. Talib Hussain, Chief Engineer, UT Ladakh, directed the concerned department—R&B, 2nd PWD, Kargil—to consult technical experts from the Kargil Ice & Snow Sports Club for the preparation of a new and improved pavilion design.

The proposed redesign aims to develop a pavilion that enables both VIPs and general spectators to comfortably and conveniently view the players in action from all directions.

The design has been prepared with meticulous planning and attention to detail to ensure durability, functionality, and high construction standards.

The pavilion will be constructed in accordance with the design concepts, seating arrangement videos, and photographs shared during the meeting and within the official group.

God willing, upon completion, this pavilion will serve as a model sports infrastructure project, paving the way for the development of high-quality yet cost-effective ice hockey rinks in Kargil district and other regions.

On behalf of the Shakar–Chiktan delegation and the wider winter sports community, we express our sincere gratitude to Mr. Tahir Hussain, Director of Youth Services & Sports, UT Ladakh, and especially to Mr. Talib Hussain, Chief Engineer, UT Ladakh, for their continuous support, encouragement, and valuable guidance.

The delegation looks forward to their continued cooperation in further strengthening sports infrastructure in Sub-Division Shakar–Chiktan.

We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to the international-level ice hockey players from Sub-Division Shakar–Chiktan, particularly Mr. Ali Akbar Firpon Samrah 🌍🏒. His efforts in sharing international-standard ice hockey rink materials during overseas competitions played a vital role in conceptualizing a high-standard ice hockey facility for Shakar–Chiktan. His dedication and commitment are significantly contributing to the advancement of local winter sports. ❄️
